Green Building Materials

As sustainable building continues to expand, a number of high efficiency and low cost products are becoming available. The following are just a few of the building materials Enviro Relations has used in past projects and found to be of superior quality.

Bonded Logic Ultra Touch Cotton Insulation – Insulation made from denim trimmings and cotton fibers, which works as a friendlier alternative to abrasive fiberglass. 

Daylighting and light controls – Skylights and windows can be sized and placed to take advantage of the sun because natural lighting saves electricity. 

Low or Zero- VOC Paints, Stains and Sealants - Paints, stains and sealants that contain low or zero VOCs help prevent headaches, nausea, allergies and even nerve system damage that can be caused when VOC compounds are present.  

Radiant Heat Systems – Radiant heat systems are installed in the floors for a more efficient distribution of heat throughout the structure. 

Rain Source Water Underground Storage Systems – This kit includes rain boxes, liners, pipes and fittings so home owners can easily collect and store rain-water for irrigation. 

Recycled Materials – Recycled materials such as carpets have high post consumer recycled content. 

Solar Photovoltaics (PV) - This technology converts light directly into electricity by generating solar power by using solar cells that are packaged in the molecules of this technology. PV's have been used in projects such as the Maison du Soleil home.

Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) – SIPs are a widely used alternative in homes and building for insulation purposes and is made of either polystyrene or polyurethane and sandwiched between two layers of plywood or fiber-cement. 

Trex Composite Decking – This decking material is made from a variety of recycled material including grocery bags, post-industrial wood products and reclaimed plastics. 

Water Saving Methods – Dual flush toilets help to reduce water usage and rainwater cisterns can be installed to collect rainfall, which can be used for landscaping irrigation and toilet flushing.
